My Achievements

  • Developed several large successful NHS web sites – I managed the procurement of a new Content Management System and then redeveloped several large NHS Mental Health web sites, improving e-communications, access to key electronic documents, and raising awareness of the sites’ new features.  The projects required managing the input of multiple stakeholders and delivery on time, and within budget.
  • Built a web team and raised the internal profile of the web as a comms tool – I steered a largely secptical and techno-phobic Executive Board through the need for web-based communications, making the case for greater resource and commitment. This lead to a significant increase in the budget for web development and the formation of a web team.
  • Improved search engine rankings and revenue – The main HPT site now attracts over 7,500 visitors per month, up from just 250 visitors per month in January 2005. Little Hayes Guest House has increased its revenue by at least 30% (£15000 per year) from direct online bookings and telephone calls triggered via our web site.
  • Improved the quality of web site content I set up a network of content authors and editors, organised a formal training programme via the Training department, and developed and enforced an editorial standards policy and accompanying guide book.
  • Successfully provided full cover for the vacant Head of Communications post for 9 Months at Hampshire Partnership NHS Trust, managing and coordinating the communications team, handling media enquiries, providing communications expertise to various projects, and producing the Trust’s Annual Report.
  • Managed the production of the Trust’s Annual Report 2007 – 2008 – Due to a vacancy in the team, I was tasked with coordinating the production of the Annual Report, managing the project from start to finish. This involved facilitating brainstorming sessions with Senior Management, short listing potential content items, coordinating the copy writing, obtaining sign off,  arranging photo shoots, ensuring copy conformed to strict legal and governance criteria, coordinating production of artwork and printing. See PDF copy of HantsPT Annual Report 2007/2008.
  • Completed a 14-month work placement – I completed a 14-month work placement with Johnson&Johnson*MSD which contributed significantly towards my personal and professional development. During this time I redeveloped the staff intranet using HTML and CSS, and updated product copy on the web site.
  • Completed a dissertation – into Web Accessibility of the Top 10 UK E-Commerce web sites, and gained a 2:1.
